218 Families in Stung Treng Receive Humanitarian Donations from CRC

STUNG TRENG: The Cambodian Red Cross (CRC) team, led by Dr. Uy Sam Ath, Director of the Disaster Management Department, distributed humanitarian donations to the most vulnerable people in Stung Treng province from 9-10 January 2023. A total of 218 families affected by flooding received donations.

The CRC distributed humanitarian donations to families living in three communes within Thala Borivat district, Stung Treng province: Kaing Cham commune (137 families), O'Ray commune (51 families), and Thala Borivat commune (30 families). The donations include 25 kg of rice, 1 box of instance noodles, 10 canned fish, a dozen bottles of fish sauce, 1 bottle of soap, and 1 kit (mosquito net, blanket, krama). The elderly, persons with disabilities, and women who have just given birth also received some money.

Dr. Uy Sam Ath also brought along a royal message from Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, Honorary President of the CRC, and First Lady Bun Rany Hun Sen, who advised the people to take good care of their health, especially during the cold rainy season, to continue being aware of new Covid-19 variants, get vaccinated, and be careful during disasters, such as drought and fire, which can cause property loss and even death.

The CRC team also visited and delivered the donations to five other families directly at their homes, and offered alms to the monks who live in Seiha Ream Pagoda (also called Kaing Cham Pagoda) and O'Ray Pagoda. Each pagoda received 100 kg of rice, 5 boxes of instance noodles, 5 dozens of canned fish, 5 dozens of fish sauce, 5 dozens of soy sauce, and 5 boxes of purified water. In addition, Seiha Ream Pagoda received a donation of 700,000 riel, and O'Ray Pagoda received a donation of 600,000 riel (the money included donations from benefactors in Stung Treng Province).
